Join us as we hear from guest Speaker – Rosemary Carrick, Australian Director of Project Rozana
Rozana was founded in 2013 as a result of a remarkable story of survival. At just four years old, Palestinian girl Rozana Salawhi fell from the ninth floor of her family’s apartment near Ramallah, sustaining life-threatening injuries. Her mother, journalist Maysa Abu Ghannam, arranged for Rozana’s treatment at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, believing that her chances of survival were higher in Israel’s healthcare system.
Rozana’s story inspired prominent Australian businessman Ron Finkel AM to shed light on the significant healthcare disparities between Israel and Palestine, despite their physical proximity. He recognized the potential for healthcare to promote goodwill between Israelis and Palestinians, and decided it was time to take action.
Rozana aims to address healthcare deficits in the region and leverage the willingness and accessibility of the Israeli healthcare system and its practitioners to support their Palestinian colleagues. By improving healthcare for Palestinians, Rozana also seeks to create positive dialogue and cultivate empathy between Israelis and Palestinians.
